![]() Now the install process will be different depending on what version of Spore you have, Steam, GoG, Retail disc, etc. You can really get into the nitty gritty with this under the “Advanced” button, but for Spore, it is a simple “Install Software” and if things don’t show up quite right you cant change some of the simple settings in “Set Screen Options” When it’s done you can click “View wrapper in Finder” to see where the new wrapper app is.ĭouble click the new app to open the Wineskin configuration tool. This may take a while and a dialog box for some additional downloads may appear, just accept them. Now you will have a dialog box with the Installed engines, if none are installed you will want to click the + button, and install the most recent 64bit engine from the dropdown menu, (WS11WineCX64Bit19.0.2-2 at the time of this writing), click download and install.Īfter you have an engine installed you can click “Create New Blank Wrapper”, give your new app a name such as “Spore”, then click OK. SO if you have a copy of Spore for Windows, either through Steam, GoG, Retail Disc, etc, you can basically re-encapsulate the game in a new 64-bit container and it'll run! They used a version of Wine called Cider, but the reason you can't just run Spore on a modern Mac now is 32-bit executables are no longer compatible with macOS, and only 64-bit can run.
